A municipal lift station kept a neat daytime record and a mysterious wet well at dawn. Staff swore the night pump ran; the local export showed a gap.
The gateway sat in a plastic cabinet with a solar trickle charger that sagged after a run of cloudy February days. To save itself it skipped the 01:00–04:00 buffer flush. The pump cycle lived in that window. The file looked like a healthy idle because the unhealthy hours were never written down.
We sat with the night operator, matched the pump’s hour-meter to the missing block, and set the cabinet on a site circuit instead of the tired solar pad. The next week’s local folder finally contained the 02:10 start.
Remote asset monitoring is often this unglamorous: power at the cabinet, not a new chart type. If a cycle you can hear does not appear in the file, believe the motor before the export.
